CHURCH OF THE SAVIOR QUILTERS sponsored by the Church of the Savior Episcopal-Lutheran Church, Newland completed their ninth year of sewing lap quilts for the community organizations in October on a high note. Sixty-seven quilts were created and given to Yellow Mountain Enterprises, Bryan Center in Spruce Pine, ACADA, RAM, CAP Operation Baby Love and although quilts were not intended for sale, church members seeing them on display purchased several. This money was given to Habitat for Humanity, Yellow Mountain Enterprises, RAM and to the Church of the Savior. Some receipts were also used to purchase fabric and batting. Ten dedicated women from the Newland area met every Thursday at the church from May to October. We invite anyone interested to join with us next year as we use our talents to God’s glory and to benefit our community.
