Williams And Wiggans: A Couple
Who Reach Into The Heart

By Sherrie Norris

Entering the Heartfelt Healing Center, one almost feels the healing begin. A sign reading “Expect Miracles” is one of the first things noticed; a few visits later, many clients experience amazing transformation of body and soul.

Julie Calabria says Heartfelt Healing Center changed her life. A local chiropractor agrees that it did the same for her, and many others are beginning to experience amazing changes that they are still trying to explain.

Practitioners Sam Williams and Terri Wiggins, a husband/wife team, recently opened their Boone location. Williams, DC, has over 25 years experience in the alternative and complementary healing arts, utilizing nutrition and advanced metabolic laboratory assessment in his centers. A pioneer in the field of Energetic Medicine, Williams has developed assessment methods whereby the affects of stress can be evaluated on the physical, mental and emotional levels. He has lectured and taught both nationally and internationally on a variety of healthcare topics. Wiggans, RN, MSN, family nurse practitioner in North Carolina for 20 years, focuses on sharing wellness and empowering techniques for self-healing. She believes in the wisdom of the body to heal and the wisdom of the heart to lead a joyful, loving and self-expressed life.

Offering a wide variety of services to better assist clients in establishing individualized health care programs, their “Whole Person Energy Evaluation” uses Energetic Meridian Assessments which graphically display the energetic effects of physical, emotional and mental stressors. The Center offers state-of-the-art laboratory Analysis “A-Z” individualized therapy programs for everything from ADD/ADHD/Autism, adrenal and thyroid disorders, allergies, arthritis, cardiovascular, depression, diabetes, fatigue, fibromyalgia, PMS, menopausal imbalances, skin disorders, sleep disorders and everything in between.

They help their clients reduce stress and attain heartfelt joy and wellness through various techniques and tools, such as relaxation through biofeedback using the HeartMath Program, guided imagery, communication enhancement, life coaching, to name a few.

Realizing that stress affects everyone physically, mentally and emotionally, Williams states, “The effects of stress can manifest in the body in a wide variety of ways and these disease-causing effects can be evaluated through our services. Williams and Wiggans offer their clients the opportunity to learn techniques that allow each individual to affect his or her body’s neural, hormonal and biochemical responses to stress so that the body remains healthy.

While their services are not what we’ve come to think of as “normal” medical practices, Williams shares, “Most health care programs today rely on a ‘cookbook’ approach where a patient presents with symptoms and are told to ‘take this for that,’ be it a drug or a nutritional product. Our focus is different in that we utilize EDS technology along with laboratory evaluations to find the underlying cause of the symptoms. From these assessments we develop a therapy program around rebalancing the body at the causal level. This therapy program can utilize homeopathic remedies, flower essences, herbal and nutritional products, heart rate variability monitoring, Psych-K, body talk, healing touch and more . . . All disease begins first at an energetic level and is precipitated by a prolonged stress response. These stressors can be of a physical, mental and/or emotional nature. This prolonged stress response alters the normal physiology, which then causes symptoms to occur. The detection and correction of the stressor is essential in the restoration of a healthy state. When this energetic disturbance is corrected, and support is given to stabilize the physiological pathways, then the body can use its inherited wisdom and heal itself. All healing comes from within.”

“Symptoms” are the body’s way of telling us something is out of balance, Williams states. “Suppressing those symptoms with medications does not correct the problem, it only drives it deeper. Treating the symptoms only, by any means, does not bring about a correction either. Many diverse symptoms can, and often are, related to the same stressor and its affects on the body. That is why it is necessary to find and correct the energetic imbalance, the underlying cause, in order to restore a more permanent state of better health.”

Many times throughout his career, Williams has been asked if this type of heath care really works. His response is, “I am a “living example”. In 1987, following an extended period of extreme mental and emotional stress, he was hospitalized with a near-fatal condition. “Upon admission, I was given less than 24 hours to live. I refused to accept this outcome but knew in order to live I had to have a change in attitude. I made it past their initial ‘deadline.’ The treatment offered to me was long-term medications with severe side-effects and/or surgery to remove the damaged organ. Neither of these options was acceptable to me, so I declined. I did take the medications long enough to stabilize myself but was told I would be dead within one year. I did not accept that prognosis either and decided to seek help from other alternative practitioners that I knew. I am happy to say that I am still alive and well and have many more years ahead of me to help others in their journey towards “heartfelt healing.”

Wiggans has believed for many years that each person has the innate wisdom to heal. What she provides are tools and techniques that help facilitate that journey of self-healing. She has worked with many people who have truly experienced the miracle of transformation . . . from a person who has had multiple health issues to one who is highly energized by life and living up to their full potential. She majored in sociology in college, served in the Peace Corps for two years in Zaire, Africa teaching English and then developed an interest in the art of healing. She became a family nurse practitioner in 1981 working mostly in the field of education and prevention in North Carolina over the past 20 years.

“The Heartfelt Healing Center carries our philosophy of how important caring is in the healing process. We are also emphasizing the importance the heart has in the role of healing. If we feel in our hearts love, appreciation or gratitude, our body communicates more efficiently and harmoniously, so therefore, our healing is accelerated. We utilize the HeartMath system to help individuals become more tuned in to those emotions. We also believe that our beliefs actually contribute to our state of health. We look closely at which beliefs support us and which beliefs no longer serve us and focus on those which create a loving, joyous environment for healing. We are serious about expecting miracles and have fun doing it as we watch the transformations of healing occur.”

Julie Calabria had been “very tired” for many years, attributed to chronic fatigue and candida overgrowth among other things for which she was treated nearly 20 years ago; recommended diets and treatments worked only temporarily. “As soon as I would resume a normal lifestyle, the problems were back worse than ever.” She barely functioned each morning after 10-12 hours of sleep. “My head hurt, my mind was in a fog and I had sinus congestion;” difficult menstrual cycles practically debilitated her two weeks each month. She was prescribed medications while constantly experiencing rosacea, allergies, an overactive bladder and ‘mysterious’ aches and pains, sinus infections, depression, etc. until she discovered Heartfelt Healing Center. Four months later, “My life has completely changed! I began to experience some improvement almost immediately. The changes are so dramatic already I feel like a different person! I finally have a life again! Besides actually getting to the root cause of my illnesses and truly helping me to get better, I have been most impressed by the level of personal attention and emotional support that I have received from both Sam and Teri. They treat you as an individual, not just another number. I am truly grateful for the help I have received from them and I refer all of my friends and family to Heartfelt Healing Center!”

A local chiropractor came to the Center with multiple symptoms: urine frequency/urgency, fatigue, difficulty sleeping and thinking, resulted in fear that she was getting Alzheimers’ Disease. At the grocery, she forgot where she left her buggy. Diagnosed with interstitial cystitis, then Lyme’s disease, her symptoms were treated with various medications for over a year; nothing helped. Three weeks after a friend suggested Heartfelt Healing Center, she noticed significant changes…less frequency and urination, ability to think clearly, sleeping all through the night. Through the HeartMath system she could see via a graph when her body was in a relaxed and healing state. Practicing breathing and focusing techniques, feeling gratitude, love, appreciation, she was able to accelerate her healing process and enhance her creativity. Now energized, free of former all symptoms, she feely shares with chronically ill patients that they don’t have to live like that any more.

The words of Helen Keller are best associated with Heartfelt Healing Center, “The best and most beautiful things in this world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.”

The Center is located at 1064 Meadowview Drive, Suite 8 in Boone. For more information call (828)264-4443
