Let Your Light Shine This Halloween

As you prepare for your trick-or-treaters, and especially as you design your jack-o-lanterns, keep in mind that we humans can be transformed, just like the pumpkin, if we allow God to pick us up from the dirt, bring us in and clean us up. He can easily scoop out all the junky stuff from inside- the seeds of doubt, hate, and greed – and then he can carve us a new smiling face and put His light inside of us to shine for the entire world to see! It’s really simple and sure worked for me.

Now, it’s time to make up a few treats for your family and friends!

Monster Mash Party Mix

10 cups popcorn
1 pound plain M&M’s
1 (14 oz.) jar dry roasted peanuts
1 cup raisins
1 cup miniature chocolate-covered peanut butter cups

Combine ingredients in a large bowl. Makes about 15 cups.

Cheesy Mummy Wrapped Dogs

1 can (8 oz.) refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
4 Kraft Singles, cut diagonally in half
8 Oscar Mayer Beef Franks or Wieners

Preheat oven to 375°F. Unroll crescent dough; separate into 8 triangles. Top each dough triangle with 1 Singles triangle and 1 frank; roll up.

Place, seam sides down, on ungreased baking sheet.

Bake 12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with your favorite condiments, if desired.

Jazz It Up
Prepare as directed, spreading 1 tsp. Grey Poupon Dijon Mustard, Kraft Original Barbecue Sauce or ketchup on each crescent roll triangle before topping with Singles and frank.

Goblin Goo

1 pkg. (8-serving size) JELL-O Brand Grape or Orange Flavor Gelatin
1 qt. (4 cups) cold prepared KOOL-AID Grape or Orange Flavor Sugar-Sweetened Soft Drink Mix

Prepare gelatin mix as directed on package. Refrigerate 4 hours or until firm.

Break gelatin into small flakes with fork. Spoon about 1/2 cup gelatin into each of eight tall glasses. Pour ½ cup prepared drink over gelatin in each glass.

Serve with straws.

Options: Prepare as directed, using 2 pkg. (4-serving size each) JELL-O Brand Grape or Orange Flavor Gelatin.

Two-Color Goo

Prepare 1 pkg. (4-serving size) each JELL-O Brand Grape and JELL-O Brand Orange Flavor Gelatin as directed on package. Refrigerate until firm, then break into flakes. Alternately layer 1/4 cup each orange and grape gelatin flakes in each glass. Pour 1/2 cup cold prepared drink over gelatin in each glass.

Great Pumpkin Cake

1 pkg. cake mix, any flavor
1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
¼ cup (1/2 stick) butter, softened
4 cups powdered sugar
Few drops each: green, red and yellow food coloring
1 ice cream cone

Prepare cake batter and bake in 12-cup fluted tube pan as directed on package. Cool in pan 10 min. Invert cake onto wire rack; remove pan. Cool cake completely.

Meanwhile, beat cream cheese and butter in medium bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Gradually add sugar, beating until well blended after each addition. Remove 1/2 cup of the frosting; place in small bowl. Add green food coloring; stir until well blended. Spread half of the green frosting onto outside of ice cream cone; set aside. Cover and reserve remaining green frosting for later use.

Add red and yellow food colorings to remaining white frosting to tint it orange. Spread onto cake to resemble pumpkin. Invert ice cream cone in hole in top of cake for the pumpkin’s stem. Pipe the reserved green frosting in vertical lines down side of cake.

Thanks to Leslie Eason for helping me come up with some great Halloween treats this week!
