Wing Fling Raises $1,200 For Watauga Humane Society

High
Country wing fans delighted their taste buds while raising
funds for a worthy cause last month.
Genos
Sports Restaurant and Lounge and the High Country Inn
hosted Genos First Wing Fling Sept. 27. The event
featured 12 teams of four people each competing for cash
and prizes totaling $1,500.
The
Wing Fling also raised $1,200, which Genos donated
to the Watauga Humane Society Oct. 7.
Capturing
the Wing Flings grand prize of $500 was the M&M
Wings team, captained by Beverly Giles. The team won with
its feta wing recipe.
Team
Jamakin Me Crazy took home second-place honors and swept
the Peoples Choice Award to earn $200 and a three-day
getaway in Gatlingburg, Tenn.
Team
Margarittaville, led by captain Mike Hill, brought home
third place and $100 for its coconut curry concoction.
Other
teams competing included Uncle Freddys Mouth Pleasers,
Sweet Southern Twang, Code Red, Bucs Wings, .37
Cents, Victorias Secret and Drink Heavy and Win.
Those
serving as distinguished judges included CEC Troy Byrum,
chef Carl Bosier, Chad Watson of House of Raeford Farms
and Jeff Porter of PFG Foods.
Blake
Sorensen and Ron Sarra served as the festivals directors.
