The White Ribbon Campaign
Men Working To End Mens Violence
Against Women
The
month of June is White Ribbon Month, a time to pay tribute
to those men who are committed to respecting and valuing
women. A.S.H.E., A Safe Home for Everyone staff and volunteers
have been out in the community over the past couple of
weeks with white ribbons in hand. The petite design of
these pins allows them to be worn on a lapel, tie, or
hat if desired. When a man buys a white ribbon, he makes
a statement that he is a man who chooses not to abuse
women in any way. Several men have purchased pins thus
far.
A.S.H.E. would like to recognize a few of them now: Chris
Miller, Jimmy Gilley, Steve Houck, Jonathan Shaw, William
Sands, Bob Brackins, Eric Reeves, Bob Yeager, Ronnie Miller,
Marty Main, Billy Main, Franklin Pickett and Bruce Dawes.
Be on the lookout for White Ribbons. Donations will go
towards the cost of providing services to women and children
who are survivors of domestic violence and will help us
continue the fight and increase awareness of the problem
here in Ashe County.
If you need to talk or would like more information, please
contact us at 982-8851. Calls are confidential. A Safe
Home for Everyone is a program of the Ashe Partnership
for Children.
