Upcoming Roadwork on NC 105 in Foscoe in Watauga County The North Carolina Department of Transportation is planning to perform drainage improvements on NC 105 in Foscoe in Watauga County. The location is 0.2 miles south of SR 1151 (Seven Devils) and 1.3 miles north of the Avery County Line. After the recent flooding in September, the Department performed an engineering hydraulic study and will be replacing the existing 72” triple barrel pipe culverts with improved drainage structures. To perform the necessary work, NC 105 will be closed beginning on Saturday, November 13, 2004, at 7:00 PM and will reopen on Monday, November 15, 2004, at 4:00 AM. Signed detour routes will be in place for motorists. The Detour will be as follows: From NC 105 in Watauga County take SR 1107 (105 Bypass) just south of Boone, NC, to US 321 / US 421 North. Take US 321 / US 421 North to US 321 North near Vilas, NC , proceeding on US 321 North to US 19E in Hampton, TN. Take US 19E South to NC 194 near Elk Park, NC, proceeding on NC 194 south to Newland, NC. In Newland, take NC 181 to NC 105 in Linville, NC. From NC 105 in Avery County take NC 105 in Linville, NC, to NC 181 Newland, NC. In Newland take NC 194 north towards Elk Park, NC proceeding on US 19E to Hampton, TN. Take US 321 South to US 421 near Vilas, NC, proceeding on US 321 / US 421 South to SR 1107 (105 Bypass). Take SR 1107 (105 Bypass) to NC 105 just south of Boone, NC.
