Western Youth Network Adds Staff, Board
Members
The Western Youth Network (WYN) announces the addition
of three members of the community to its team of dedicated
individuals serving the youth and families of the High
Country.

Joining the WYN Board is Kimberly Eggers, a native of
Watauga County and 1998 honor graduate of Appalachian
State University. After her undergraduate studies Eggers
earned a Juris Doctor degree from Campbell University,
practiced law in Boone for several years, and in 2004
became a county magistrate.
In addition to her legal expertise, Eggers brings to WYN
two years of experience on the board of directors for
Watauga Opportunities as well as in classroom and leadership
capacities at Boone United Methodist Church.
She is the recipient of many awards for academic achievement
and activism, including scholarships to both ASU and law
school. She is married to Stacy Eggers, IV. They live
in Boone.
Joining the WYN full-time staff as director of prevention
programs is Ronald Holste. He holds an undergraduate degree,
also with honors, from North Carolina State University
and is working toward his masters in social science
from ASU.
Prior to his selection Holste served for 18 months as
a leader in WYNs after-school program, where he
supervised and managed indoor and outdoor activities for
more than 20 middle high students.
Holstes experience also includes more than five
years in a variety of community-based youth programs in
Chapel Hill and Henderson as well as Seattle.
Joining the ranks of WYNs corps of volunteers is
Daranee Dusty Teng, a senior journalism and
Spanish major at ASU.
Teng is also a member of AmeriCorps, a nationwide network
of service programs that connects thousands of Americans
each year to intensive service opportunities to meet critical
needs in education, public safety, health and the environment.
Prior to coming to Boone in 2003 Teng attended the University
of Alabama at Huntsville on a scholarship and attained
the deans list. At ASU she has repeated those achievements
and also earned the ASU Leadership Award.
Tengs record of previous volunteer work is extensive.
It includes ASU Freshman Seminar Peer Leader, ASU Alternative
Spring Break Peer Leader, MLK Challenge, OASIS, Hands
On Charlotte, the Alabama Environmental Council and the
Alabama Animal Adoption Society.
