Broadstone Brings Country
Flavor To Tailgating
Local Country Rockers At The Library
This Friday
By Jeff Eason
This has been a big summer for the country rock outfit
known as Broadstone. Not only have they brought in new
members to the group, but they have also had the opportunity
to open shows for national acts.

High Country band Broadstone will
perform at the Library Restaurant and Pub this Friday,
September 1st. They will also be the featured performers
at two ASU Mountaineer Tailgate Parties.

Now a new opportunity arises for the talented
quintet. The group will be the featured performers at
the tailgate parties of two Appalachian State University
home football games: The home opener against James Madison
on Saturday, September 9th and Homecoming against Elon
on Saturday, September 30th. Both performances will be
at the Raley Circle near Raley Hall on the Appalachian
State campus and both will take place from 1:30 to 3:00
p.m. Music fans getting to the tailgate party early will
have a chance to meet the band and receive free photos
and autographs.
Kickoff time for both games is at 3:30 p.m. at Kidd Brewer
Stadium.
Before Broadstone takes on the tailgaters, however, they
will have to energize the music lovers at The Library
Restaurant and Pub on Friday, September 1st. The Library
starts at 10 p.m. in Boone.
Broadstone is made up of Jamie Dooley on rhythm guitar,
Bill McQueen on lead guitar, James Jestes on guitar and
lead vocals, Kenneth Reece on bass and Brad Martin on
drums.
This past summer has been a busy one for the band as they
have been touring more than ever and at the same time
they have been recording songs for a new album. Two of
the bands original numbers have already been played
on local radio stations 98.1 WBRF-FM (Blue Ridge Family
Radio) and 1450 WATA-AM. The first song is titled Libertys
Hill and has been described as a patriotic tribute
to veterans and our military men and women. The second
song is an upbeat romantic country rock number called
Its You.
According to Jestes, the band has about six songs that
have been recorded for the new album and are in the mix
down process with them. They hope to have about a dozen
recorded by the end of the year.
Weve been struggling to get our recorded sound
to match the energy of our sound when we play in front
of an audience, said Jestes. We get such a
massive response from the fans at our live shows that
we just feed off of their energy. Hopefully we can put
a live song or two on the new album.
During this summers hectic touring schedule, the
band performed at The Underwater in Gulf Shores, Alabama
and at Arizona Petes in Greensboro. They also opened
for national recording stars Confederate Railroad.
