If you want to make it in the ultra-competitive music
industry, youll take any advantage you can get.
For folk rocker Teddy Thompson, his advantage might just
be genetic. His parents are English folk stars Richard
and Linda Thompson, giving young Teddy a pedigree most
musicians would kill for.
Teddy Thompson will open for The Emmylou Harris Band in
concert at the George Holmes Convocation Center in Boone
on Saturday, October 21st. The show starts at 8 p.m. and
tickets are on sale now.
Thompsons current tour is in support of his second
album overall and his first for the Verve Forecast label.
Titled Separate Ways, the album features Thompson on guitars,
keyboards, percussion and vocals with help from musicians
Rufus Wainwright, Martha Wainwright, Jenni Muldaur, Garth
Hudson, Dave Mattacks, Matt Chamberlain, as well as his
parents.
Thompson was also featured on the soundtrack to the film
Brokeback Mountain, also released on Verve Forecast. His
contributions to the soundtrack include his original song
I Dont Want You to Say Goodbye and the
duet with Rufus Wainwright on a remake of the classic
Roger Miller tune King of the Road.
Recently, Thompson performed with his mother at a tribute
concert for Canadian musician Leonard Cohen. Their version
of his Tonight Will Be Fine will be featured
on the documentary film of the tribute concert.
