Ashe County Home Builders
Announce 2007 Board
At their recent Christmas Party held at
Jefferson Landing, the Ashe County Home Builders Association
swore in their 2007 Board of Directors. The ceremony was
presided over by Robb Collier, regional vice president
for the North Carolina Home Builders Association.
The 2007 President for the ACHBA is Mike
Shatley, of Shatley Paving & Construction. PresidentElect
is Joe Weddington, of Wood Stream Custom Builders. Carolyn
Miller, Yadkin Valley Bank is Treasurer, while Maria Whaley,
Ashe Woodworking, is Secretary. Other Board members include,
David Hodgson of Hodgson Construction, Dub Lewis of Paddy
Mountain Log Homes, Gwynita Steele of Blue Ridge Electric
and Tracy Jordan of Jordan and Jordan Law Offices. Darrel
Hamilton stays on the Board as Immediate Past President.
The Associations new executive officer is Kelley
St. Germain.
At their Jan. 11th meeting, held at Jefferson Station,
the Home Builders had one of their best attended meetings
ever, according to organizers. Sponsored by Yadkin Valley
Bank, with incredible door prizes provided by Tom Phillips
and Mountain Home Utopia, the meeting included a wide
variety of speakers. Darrel Hamilton spoke about the Windmill
Farm being proposed in Ashe County. Zack Edmiston, from
the Planning Board, took questions from members. Chamber
of Commerce Director Beth Dixon discussed a new childrens
literacy program founded by Dolly Parton. Ron Zapcic told
members about a worthy new program that he has started
in the county, Raise a Roof, Rebuild a Life.
