Postmasters head for the Hill

West Jefferson Postmaster Drew Martin will join a thousand fellow postmasters on a trek to Washington, DC, where they will demand that their customers' interests are protected and advanced.

"Not only do Postmasters take care of our hometown customers, but we are looking out for them at the national level, as well," said Dominick Spadaro, President of the National Association of Postmasters of the United States (NAPUS) North Carolina Chapter, and Postmaster of Atlantic Beach, NC.
Martin serves as vice president of NC NAPUS.

Following the recent passage of the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act, legislation that NAPUS vigorously promoted for more than a decade, members of the group made their way to Capitol Hill to continue their fight for further improvement of the U.S. Postal Service. All expenses from the trip are paid by NAPUS Postmasters, not the Postal Service.

"We want to enhance service," said Spadaro, "And that means Congress must be made aware of the extraordinary pressures being imposed upon Postmasters, who strive constantly to maintain the quality of mail service their customers deserve and demand."
