Let’s go cruisin’ Friday night
High Country Classics announces spring and summer schedule of events

It’s about that time, folks, when the classics come to town.

Roger Dalton, president of the High Country Classics Car Club of Boone, announces that a new season of Friday night cruise-ins begins this Friday, April 11, and will continue on the second and fourth Friday night of each month throughout the summer.

Dates for club sponsored cruise-ins to be held in the parking lot of AF Bank on Blowing Rock Road in Boone, across from Kmart, are as follows: April 11 and 25, May 9 and 23, June 13 and 27 and July 11 and 25.
These events are open to the public, with all classic car and truck owners and enthusiasts encouraged to come out for a fun time, enjoy good fellowship with other cruisers, music from the “good old days” and take a chance or two on weekly 50/50 drawings. Cruises will be held, weather permitting as scheduled, though no alcohol, pets, bikes or skateboards will be permitted on premises.

Dalton also announces that the club will once again be hosting its fourth annual Classic Car Show on Saturday, July 19, at Watauga High School, with a July 26 rain date. Registration will be from 8 a.m. to noon, with awards distributed at 2 p.m. Vendor spaces will be available for $40 each. Goodie bags will be given to the first 75 entries, with a $20 registration free per vehicle. Trophies will be given in the following categories: Top 50, People’s Choice, Best of Show, Farthest Distance Driven Car, Club Participation and HCC Club Choice Award. There will be food and drinks available, door prizes and much more. No alcohol or pets permitted.

The High Country Classic Car Club is a supporter of community events and helps meet the needs of others through its fundraising events, such as the annual car show and 50/50 drawings.

The club has a dedicated membership of men, women and teens interested in preserving vintage vehicles and helping their fellow man. In addition to hosting local events, the club members enjoy participating in out-of-town cruises and occasionally take short trips just for the fellowship and enjoyment they offer.

The club meets on the first Monday of each month at Poplar Grove Baptist Church at 7:30 p.m. and welcomes potential members to visit, and always welcomes new members to join.
