High Country for Barack Obama (HCBO) will celebrate its new
campaign headquarters at 890 W. King St. in Boone at a grand
opening scheduled for Friday, Aug. 22 at 5:30 p.m. Festivities
will include music by Susan Pepper on the dulcimer and other
local musicians, face painting and refreshments.
A major purpose of the grand opening is to help local supporters
of Sen. Barack Obamas Presidential candidacy connect with
each other and with ways in which they can assist in the campaigns
grassroots efforts in the High Country. Volunteer opportunities
for the campaign include canvassing, voter registration, phone
banking, data entry and staffing the office.
Theres a tremendous enthusiasm around building overwhelming
support for Sen. Obama here in Watauga and our surrounding counties,
HCBO volunteer Dr. Bricca Sweet said. Now that we have
a full-time Obama campaign staff member here in Watauga County,
we can better organize to get out the vote for change in our
nations leadership.
All area residents and visitors interested in Obamas N.C.
Campaign for Change are invited to Fridays HCBO grand
opening. For additional information about this event or the
campaign, contact the local field organizer, Blake Schell, at
(336) 512-5184.
