Ashe County's 2008 community-wide Health Fair will take place
on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The location
is set for Jefferson Station and the theme will be "Trains."
The purpose of the Fair is to raise awareness concerning healthy
lifestyles among our community members and a celebration of
the Make-A-Difference Day! Make-A-Difference Day is an encompassing
national day of celebrating helping others. In recognition of
Make-A-Difference Day, the Ashe County Volunteer Initiative
will have a directory of volunteer opportunities available and
will be accepting cans of food to be distributed to local food
pantries and collecting surplus eye glasses for the Lions Club.
Everyone is invited to take part in this event. There are several
ways to do participate in the fair:
You may set up a booth and/or offer some service for the community
on Oct. 25. They would like to see as many different displays
as possible. There is no fee to have a booth at the fair. Exhibitors
are encouraged to bring their own table and chairs.
Whether or not you choose to have a display booth, they are
asking that you consider sponsorship to help cover costs, especially
health screenings, involved in running the Health Fair. They
appreciate all your help and contributions in this area. The
deadline to register for the Health Fair is Friday, Sept. 26.
