Visitors and High Country residents just gained a new
reason for going to the Tanger Outlet Shoppes on the Parkway in
Blowing Rock. PJs Almost World Famous Cheeseburgers Grille
opened at the shopping center October 3 in the former location
of the Parkway Café.
Burger lovers have a new
eatery to check out. PJs Almost World Famous Cheeseburgers

PJs is owned by Patrick Hennessy, the original owner of
Cheeseburgers in Paradise in Blowing Rock. He sold that restaurant
four years ago and has been living in Florida. When his four-year
no-compete clause expired he decided to return to the High Country
and open PJs.
PJs features a casual dining atmosphere and made-to-order
food items. The star of the show is the cheeseburger, which can
be ordered in five sizes: the original (6 oz.), the standard (8
oz.), considerable (10 oz.), considerably excessive (14 oz.),
and astonishing (18 oz.). Fortunately, all the burgers are served
in buns hearty enough to handle a juicy burger without falling
apart.
Other items on PJs menu include quesadillas, salads, wraps,
sandwiches, wings, hot dogs and appetizers. The wing flavor names
reflect their relative spiciness and are called mild butt wipes,
medium, just plain hot, and burn your butt. There are also garlic
wings, and uncle Bobs secret recipe wings.
PJs serves a wide selection of domestic and imported beer
as well as a variety of wines.
All orders are made by hand and the tables features Trivial Pursuit
cards so that customers can entertain themselves while waiting
for their food. The décor is a work in progress, and the
restaurant will soon have televisions on the wall for sports and
other features.
PJs Almost World Famous Cheeseburgers Grille is open Monday
through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sundays from 11
a.m. to 6 p.m.
