Christmas in the Mountains Vol. 2 now available

In these troubled times, the Hunger and Health Coalition (HHC) is pleased to present the High Country community with “Christmas in the Mountains Vol. 2,” a peaceful and uplifting CD of Christmas music donated by local musicians.

The CD, featuring 13 songs performed by area artists, hit shelves Tuesday in preparation for the holiday season.

From the first song by Doc Watson, “New Born King,” to the last song, “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” by The Kingston Trio, the CD is filled with songs written especially for the HHC’s fundraiser, as well as new takes on old favorites.

“As we understand it, ‘New Born King’ is one of a few, if not the only Christmas song that Doc has recorded, and we are so privileged to have it on our CD,” fundraising chair Leslie Shavel said. “The HHC would like to say, ‘Thank you, Doc, for helping us feed the hungry in our area.’”

The Hunger Coalition would also like to thank all of the other musicians included in the CD who donated their music and time: Amantha Mill, Jeff Little, Todd Wright, Joe Shannon, David Combs and Gary Prim, Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church, ASU Jazz Vocal Ensemble, Mary C. Greene, Laura Kaufman, Diana and Sarvis Ridge, and The Lost Faculties.

Since all of the production costs have been covered by generous donations, the $10 cost of the “Christmas in the Mountains Vol. 2” CD goes directly to helping those in need in our local communities. The HHC will use proceeds to fund programs directed at improving the health and quality of life of community residents.
