Appalachian State Universitys Darwin Bicentennial Celebration
Committee invites High Country residents to an Evolution Outreach
Session, to be held on Saturday, October 25th, at the Watauga
County Public Library, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The purpose of
this outreach session will be to identify misconceptions associated
with evolutionary theory, and to discuss these with members
of the public.This session is part of the Darwin Celebration
activities being held at Appalachian State University this semester
and next.
The purpose of these outreach sessions will be to answer questions
from the public about either evolution or Charles Darwin. Dr.
Gwen Robbins, from the Department of Anthropology, and Howard
Neufeld, from the Department of Biology will be available to
answer questions and to discuss aspects of evolutionary theory.
A second outreach session will be held in the same location
on Saturday, December 6th, beginning at 2 p.m., and going until
4 p.m. That day, the subject will be Dinosaurs and Evolution,
and will be hosted by Dr. Andy Heckert, from the Department
of Geology.
