A film series at Appalachian State University will showcase
documentaries produced by university faculty.
Admission to the series is free and the public is invited. The

Studies and works for University Documentary Services.
Before coming to Appalachian, Hansell worked for Appalshop, a
media arts center located in the heart of the Appalachian coalfields.
The Electricity Fairy is an Appalshop documentary
that examines Americas national addiction to fossil fuels
through the lens of electricity. Hansell follows the story of
a proposed coal-fired power plant in the mountains of southwest
Virginia, connecting the local controversy to the national debate
over energy policy.
Cece Conway, a professor in the Department of English, will show
her documentary Sprout Wings and Fly and the work
in progress Black Banjo Gathering Nov. 19 at 8 p.m.
in Belk Library and Information Commons Room 114.
