Trombonist Joseph Brown will present a recital Friday,
Oct. 24, at 8 p.m.in Broyhill Music Centers Recital Hall
at Appalachian State University.
Brown is an adjunct instructor in the Hayes School of Music at
Appalachian.
His program includes the first movement of Johann Georg Albrechtsbergers
Concerto in B-flat Major for Alto Trombone, A
Simple Song from Leonard Bernsteins Mass,
Romance by Carl Maria von Weber and variations on
Barnacle Bill the Sailor, arranged by Steven Frank.
Woodwind chamber ensembles perform Oct. 27
Woodwind chamber ensembles from the Hayes School of Music at
Appalachian State University will perform Oct. 27 at 8 p.m.
in Broyhill Music Centers Rosen Concert Hall. Admission
is free.
The program consists of Romance, op. 43 by Adolphe
Blanc, Adagio and Allegro, K. 594 by Mozart, Fanfare
by Arthur Frackenpohl, My Funny Valentine by Richard
Rogers/Lorenz Hart and Suite in C Major by Haydn.
Student musicians also will perform Divertimento no. 4
by Mozart, The Liberty Bell by John Philip Sousa
and Quintet for Winds, no. 3 by David Maslanka.
The ensembles are coached by faculty members Jon Beebe, Alicia
Chapman, Scott Kallestad and Kim Wangler.
