The Ashe County Middle School Silver soccer team finished their
2008 season with a victory over West
 |
Wilkes in Millers Creek. The victory was the eighth of the
year for the team, which had no losses and only one tie..
The finale against West Wilkes wasn't easy, however, as both
teams were scoreless at half time. But head Coach Alex Wray,
in his first year with the team, spoke to his players and reminded
them of the great season that they have had and for them to
go out in the second half and dominate the game as they have
in the past. Wray emphasized how he wants his players to be
the first at the ball each and every time.
Attack, attack and attack each and every time that they are
on the field and give the opponents the feeling that they have
no chance against ACMS Silver. Domination is the key to victory.
Play as a team and win as team is the motto for the Silver soccer
team.
And the Silver bullet did just that with two scores during the
second half.
During the season, the Ashe County Middle School Silver scored
25 goals while holding their opponents to only three.
Wray was very excited for having the season that the team had,
and he gave all of the credit to the players. Wray mentioned
numerous times that all of the players played as a team, offensively
and defensively, and that was the formula that it took to bring
this team on top.
Wray also wanted to say that he had a special group of players
and parents that made this season possible.
