Wilkes Night of Fright Oct. 31
Wilkes Playmakers Inc. and Old Wilkes Inc. will partner for one more “Night of Fright” on Oct. 31, Halloween Night.

Old Wilkes will take groups on ghost tours around Wilkesboro and end with ghost stories by a campfire - while Wilkes Playmakers will take groups on ghost hunts through the harrowing old halls of Benton Hall.

Wilkes Playmakers will offer four additional nights of ghost hunts leading up to Halloween. Ghost hunts will be offered from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 27, 28, 29 and 30 (Monday through Thursday). These will be offered in addition to the Fright Night partnership with Old Wilkes Inc. on Halloween Night.

Tickets are now on sale through Old Wilkes (336-667-3171) or Wilkes Playmakers (336-838-7529). The price of admission is $10 for both events. Tickets will also be sold at either location on the nights offered.

“Both groups had a great weekend,” said Karen Reynolds, executive director of Wilkes Playmakers. “The rain got us all off to a slow start on Friday, but on Saturday things really picked up. Old Wilkes does a wonderful job with their tours - very much like the ones you attend in Charleston or Wilmington.

“Wilkes Playmakers had a lot of ghostly experiences while on the hunt for ghosts in Benton Hall. I won’t share the stories with you that are told during the hunt, but several folks attending brought cameras and were able to photograph orbs in the upstairs theatre (we use only candlelight), and there were quite a few things heard and cold spots felt while touring the building. One lady’s camera was working prior to walking in to the building, but once inside and on the tour, the camera refused to work. We decided the ghosts were just tired of having their pictures taken.

“For those interested, it is important to note that the ghost hunt is not a haunted house. It is an official hunt for the paranormal. There are no vampires, Jasons or Texas chainsaw guys running around with chainsaws. Everything you experience or don’t experience is real.”

Tickets may also be purchased for the “Ghost Hunt” only or the “Old Wilkes Ghost Tours” at $5 each or online at www.wilkesplaymakers.com. Mastercard and Visa are accepted.
