Hampton Jr. is acting as the operating manager, utilizing his 12 years of staffing experience. A native of Boone, Hampton said he is familiar with the area and the needs of local companies.

High Country Labor Force focuses mainly on construction laborers, providing temporary workers for labor, clean-up, painting, carpeting, mason help, flagging, fork lift operators, landscaping and more. Commercial housekeeping is also available. Companies interested in obtaining laborers are encouraged to call and discuss specific needs to ensure the right person is sent to the job site.

Hampton described the business as “modern day with an old-school mindset.”

Applicants undergo a strict screening process, including pre-employment drug testing, sex-offender database searches and verification of foreign documentation. Random drug testing and background checks are completed upon the request of clients.

Hampton explains sex-offenders will not be hired due to the nature of temporary placement. “We may have a job site near a playground or school,” he said. “That is a risk I won’t take.”

The screening process evolved from the motto Hampton adopted for the business, “We are only as good as the last worker we sent out.”

High Country Labor Force began accepting applications one week ago and has already received a large number. “In a short time, we have built an extremely strong force of good people that want to work.”

Clients are important to Hampton, though he extends the same courtesies to his employees. “They are not just temps,” he said. “Reliable, good workers are treated like good employees.”

High Country Labor Force has a 90-day working policy, meaning employees may be hired into full-time positions with clients after 90 days on a particular job site. This is a shorter timeframe than the industry standards of several hundred hours or six months.

Hampton said the shorter time frame was adopted to be fair to both clients and employees. “We don’t want to prevent anyone from obtaining full-time employment,” he said. “Ninety days is also a good time for clients to determine if a particular person is right for their company.”

High Country Labor Force is located at 147 Meadowview Drive in Boone. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 5:30 a.m to 6 p.m. Weekends hours and labor can be prescheduled. The business can be reached by telephone at (828) 262-1263 or toll free at (877) 262-1263. Email communication should be directed to hclaborforce.llc@gmail.com.
