Boone Service League meets Nov. 4
Holiday Market set for Nov. 17

The Boone Service League’s next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 6:30 p.m. at Deerfield United Methodist Church on Deerfield Road in Boone.

All interested women in the High Country are invited to join at any meeting. Refreshments are served at each BSL meeting at 6:30 p.m., and the general business portion of the meeting convenes at 7 p.m. Childcare is provided during the meeting.

The Boone Service League is always seeking new members. This month, BSL will be signing up for the annual Christmas Gift Wrap Project and new Holiday Market.

“Volunteering with a friend or family member encourages growth and bonding, while expanding BSL resources – bring a friend and imagine what a few resourceful women can do,” a BSL spokesperson said.

The organization is open to High Country women ages 21 to 91 who are interested in making new friends and building leadership skills, while participating in fundraising and community service projects. This organization strives to live up to its motto, “A Heart for the High Country,” providing assistance through a number of channels. Throughout the year, Boone Service League holds several major fundraisers, sponsors high school scholarships, provides grant money to local non-profit organizations, and participates in Meals on Wheels, the Adopt-A-Street program, and many other hands on service events. BSL also offers financial assistance to individuals in need in the High Country communities of Ashe, Avery and Watauga counties.

“We are proud that our organization is able to raise funds for projects and charities throughout the High Country and provides an opportunity for women in the area to show how much we care about our community,” the spokesperson said. “All funds raised by the Boone Service League remain in the High Country.”

The organization meets the first Tuesday of each month, August through May, at Deerfield United Methodist Church on Deerfield Road in Boone. Visitors from Ashe, Avery and Watauga counties are welcome to join at any meeting. For more information, visit www.booneserviceleague.org.

Boone Service League will be hosting a Holiday Market at the Dragonfly Theater & Pub on Nov. 17, from 4 to 9 p.m.

“If you would like to sell your merchandise to raise extra money for the Holidays, this is a great opportunity,” the spokesperson said.

The fee is $45 per booth, and those interested in vending at the market should contact Rebecca Riddle at rebeccariddle@gmail.com.

Boone Service League is a non-profit organization that raises funds for projects and charities throughout the High Country. All funds raised by the Boone Service League remain in the High Country. Vendor spaces are subject to availability.
