The Taylor House Inn in Valle Crucis was selected as one
of the Best for Weddings in the annual Best of BedandBreakfast.com
Awards. The historic inn, which has taken boarders for nearly
a century, has hosted enough weddings over the years to keep
Cupids quiver a-quivering.
The Taylor House Inn has made matrimony a part of its business
for decades, focusing on offering two families a chance to
get to know one another better now that theyre related.
The inn is owned by Tessa Russo, who is French, and Bernard
Russo, an Italian. The couple purchased it in 2006 and maintained
the tradition while adding a more continental flair.
We are doing things differently, more European if you
wish, paying attention to the bride and groom and helping
them in their choices, Tessa said. Depending on
their needs, we match them with vendors so they can make their
best choices. I think we are doing a pretty good job on that.
Its not just a place where you come to have a wedding.
We are there for you.
The Taylor House handles 12 to 14 weddings a year, usually
with the family staying there for short vacations.
It makes it perfect to get back together and for people
who havent seen each other for a long time, Tessa
said. For two families who come from different regions,
its the perfect time to get to know each other.
Tessa added that the innkeepers take delight in entertaining
the whole marital party.
For the gentlemen, to get them out of the hair of the
women, we organize golf, Tessa said. For women
we organize the spa or the make-up artists to get ready for
the wedding. For children, there is horseback riding and other
activities.
The Best of BedandBreakfast.com Awards are based upon a qualitative
and quantitative review of the nearly 50,000 independent reviews
submitted to BedandBreakfast.com, the leading online B&B
directory and reservation network worldwide. The inn earned
the top slot in its category among 6,000 bed-and-breakfast
establishments nationwide.
One reviewer wrote of the inn, Our wedding guests commented
over and over about the delicious breakfasts and snacks, the
fresh flowers, the beautiful rooms, and comfortable beds!
You made sure we had anything that we needed. Without a doubt,
you were the ideal host and hostess, and the Taylor House
Inn was the ideal setting for our daughters wedding.
Your warmth, kindness, and generosity will never be forgotten.
We know how important independent reviews are,
said Sandy Soule, a spokeswoman for Bedandbreakfast.com. Were
delighted that inn-goers concurred that Taylor House Inn is
a favorite among those seeking the B&B experience. Its
clear that the Taylor House Inn earned high marks from inn-goers
for their fine accommodations, breakfasts, amenities, and
wonderful hospitality and service.
The Taylor House was built by Squire Taylor in 1911, and soon
thereafter the family began taking boarders. After the family
abandoned it for a while, it became a bed and breakfast for
about 60 years before the Russos purchased it.
Ever since, we have been doing weddings, and our attention
to detail and wanting to give the best to our guests was noticed,
Tessa said.
