Prizes, candy and haunted house at
Tate-Evans Park
Avery County goblins and ghouls along
with their parents and friends are invited to gather
at Tate-Evans Park in Banner Elk for the fourth annual Halloween
Trunk or Treat, held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31.
Its a one-stop night of Halloween thrills, complete with
Haunted House and loads of candy for the trick-or-treaters.
Everyone is encouraged to participate in the Trunk or
Treat, by bringing candy to share with the kids. More
fun can be had by decorating your vehicle prizes are
awarded to the first, second and third place ghostmobiles.
A costume contest for the kids adds to the excitement, with
prizes awarded by age group for prettiest, scariest, cutest
and most original. If costumes and decorated cars arent
your thing, bring along your decorated or carved pumpkin to
enter in the new Jack-o-Lantern contest. There will be hot dogs,
peanuts and roasted corn available for purchase, so folks neednt
worry about dinner.
Trunk or Treat is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Banner Elk,
with donations of labor and treats from area patrons and businesses.
The Avery County Arts Council is a non-profit
organization working to enrich the people of Avery County through
