Jim Malcolm is a voice that stands out and has made a strong mark
on the Scottish music scene both as a solo performer and as a
member of one of Scotlands most respected groups, Old Blind
Dogs. The same year Old Blind Dogs won the Scots Trad Music Award
as Group of the Year, Malcolm won the Songwriter of the Year award.
Malcolms talent for penning and performing music that reaches
deep inside the listener is known worldwide. Most recently when
he performed at the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games, a visiting
Scottish dignitary said, What Alasdair Frazer does for Scottish
heritage with a fiddle and bow, Jim Malcolm does with his pen,
guitar and voice. The listener feels what Scotland is all about
when he sings.
Malcolm is currently on a U.S. tour that starts in Arizona and
then makes its way east. He is one of the few solo performers
that can carry the weight of the audience along as he weaves his
tales through lyrics and a laugh.
Once you hear him you will know why Malcolm has been called
the new male voice of Scotland, an event spokesperson
said. This is a rare opportunity to hear one of the best
musicians Scotland has to offer in an intimate, relaxing atmosphere.
