Experience meets youthful exuberance this weekend as string-playing
mountain musicians Laura Boosinger and Josh Goforth perform
in Todd. The concert is hosted by the Todd General Mercantile
and takes place on Friday, November 14 at 7:30 p.m. The cost
of the show is a sliding cover charge of $5-$10.
The concert is sponsored by the Watauga Arts Council with
the support from the Grassroots Grant program of the North Carolina
Arts Council.
We are hoping this concert will be the first in a series
of indoor concerts, which will also be recorded in hopes of
a compilation CD, said mark Freed, folklorist for the
Watauga Arts Council and coordinator for the event.
Laura Boosinger, a banjo player and traditional musician from
western North Carolina, is a MerleFest regular and winner of
many state and national awards.
Josh Goforth is a student-musician at East Tennessee State
University and two-time Fiddler of the Festival
at the nationally acclaimed Fiddlers Grove Competition.
He appeared in the film Songcatcher, starring Aidan Quinn and
Janet McTear.
Emilie Enzmann, owner of the Todd Mercantile, will have baked
items for sale from her Todd Mahal Bakery. Local artists will
also have a selection of other items for sale.
