Every year at this time Americans start their
Christmas shopping in earnest. The question on everyones
minds seems to be What to give?
Well, if you are in the Boone Mall during the
week of November 28 through December 4, take a minute to meet
with author Dr. Ed Aranoff at Waldenbooks and see if one of
his titles is something your friend or family member might like
to find under the Christmas tree this year.
Aronoff is the author of the recent Civil War
trilogy Three Came Home. The three editions are subtitled Lorena,
Sam and Rutherford. The three fictional histories tell the stories
of three civilians working in the Confederate war effort in
Georgia. Lorena, Sam and Rutherfordalong with dozens of
other workersare sent north by General William Tecumseh
Sherman and let loose to fend for themselves and try to find
their way back home.
Ive been interested in the Civil War since I was
14 years old, said Aranoff. I read everything I
could about it. One time (Civil War author) Shelby Foote talked
to me. He said if you can just write 500 words a day, before
you know it youll have written a book. Now I can dash
off 1,000 or 1,500 words a day without a problem. I never have
had writers block.
Aronoff will be meeting with the public in front
of Waldenbooks and signing copies of his historical novels.
In addition to the trilogy of Three Came Home Books, Aronoff
has written the award-winning Betrayal At Gettysburg, Last Chance
and The Pagliacci Affair. He is currently working on two other
books with the tentative titles A Death on Beech Mountain and
Last Stop Before Phoenix.
Aronoff was educated in New York, Iowa and Florida
and began a medical practice in the Tampa Bay area. After retiring
from orthopedic medicine, he has become a fulltime author. He
splits his time between Florida and the North Carolina mountains.
