Holston Presbytery Camp and Retreat Center in Banner Elk encourages
folks to begin a family tradition with its annual Christmas
Tree Cutting Party.
The party is an annual Christmas event hosted by Holston Camp,
and this years is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 5 through
Saturday, Dec. 6.
A large attendance in 2007 attests to the value families find
in this celebration.
This event gave [our family] time to get away from the
ordinary, every day drudgery and relax, said Bobby Meadows
of Bristol, Tenn.
Sandy Ward of Greeneville, Tenn., plans to return this year,
saying, Its a wonderful chance for families to spend
time together, and thats what is precious to me.
Becca Bell, 11, volunteers every year assisting with event set-up,
snack preparation, and the holiday craft. Bell is the daughter
of Craig and Ann Bell of Banner Elk.
Activities and festive snacks begin at 7 p.m. on that Friday.
Attendees should arrive beforehand to sign-in and settle into
their rooms, while enjoy holiday crafts, caroling and a warm
fireplace.
Saturday begins with Peggy Crumps hearty mountain breakfast
buffet. Families will then travel to Horney Hollow Choose-and-Cut,
a local tree farm, to locate their Christmas tree.
Attendees may enjoy discounted prices that include one night
of lodging, the program, evening snacks and the breakfast buffet.
Prices range from $14-24. For more information or to make reservations,
