November signals its time for Carlton Gallerys
26th Winter Exhibition with a Holiday Open House on November
28th, 29th, 30th. The gallery is beautifully decorated for the
upcoming Holiday Season, and Toni Carlton invites all to take
a break from the hustle and bustle and enjoy light refreshments,
hot apple cider and plenty of holiday spirit at the 26th Winter
Exhibition Open House.
An exhibit of original small works of art on canvas and board
in all mediums is part of the 26th Winter Exhibition. This selection
of small scale gems reminds one that bigger is not necessarily
better. The gallerys standing artists have new work for
this Small Works Exhibit including Warren Dennis,
Jim Crompton, Kate Worm, Freeman Beard and Marion Cloaninger.
Also included are small works in all mediums by
Vae Hamilton, Jessie Fox Nichols, Bill Farnsworth, Charles
Lawson, Martha Gimlin, Anderson Giles, David McCaig, Gina Strumpf,
Janice Gay-Maker, Louise Pinto, and Betsy Bohrer. The subject
matter for this Small Works Exhibit ranges from
landscapes, harbor scenes, abstracts, flowers, horses, still
life to figurative making the 26th Winter Exhibition visually
exciting.
Small works of art can be found in the black and white photography
of Jack Stoddart. Stoddart focuses on natural rural settings
and wildlife, capturing unique and sometimes whimsical subjects.
Also giclees are available of original pieces of visionary artist,
Debbie Arnold, and mixed media artist, Phyllis Knight. A giclee
is a high resolution reproduction of the original art work.
Signed prints on acid-free paper of Toni Carltons original
mixed media collages round out the Small Works Exhibit.
Small works of art can also be found in jewelry, glass and wood
at the 26th Winter Exhibition.
Nationally known jewelry designer, Mia Katrin, will be present
on November 29, 12-4 p.m. with one-of-a-kind creations from
her collection. Katrins hand-crafted designs are made
in precious and semi-precious gemstones and pearls set in 18-22
K gold and platinum. Katrins cutting-edge designs can
be found in high-end jewelers in Asheville and Charlotte, NC;
Philadelphia, PA; and Charleston, SC. Come by Carlton Gallery
and view the distinctive jewelry and engage in a dialogue with
this talented designer.
Dichroic glass earrings, bracelets, pins and slides by Corona
Art Glass and the Gilded Lily are versatile, attractive and
affordable additions to any jewelry collection. Dichroic glass
reflects multiple colors, allowing the piece of jewelry to be
suitable for many outfits.
Wearable pins by Kate Dillon are favored by gallery patrons.
Dillon crafts her uniquely individual pins of butterflies, fish
and dragonflies by the ancient Japanese art of paper folding
known as Origami. Each piece is dipped and dried in a protective
plastic finish for long wearing durability and attractive appearance.
Small bowls in contrasting bands by Robert Gunther, oil lamps
and ikebanas by Allen Davis are made from a multi-selection
of woods and designs. Each is an exquisite small work of art.
Music Boxes by Irmaly Brackin and Hardwood Drums by Michael
Thiele bring an added dimension to the Small Works Exhibit.
Irmalys music boxes in her signature eclectic style will
amuse and amaze all who view her creative art. Thieles
Hardwood Drums range from a 4 note Ivy, 6 note Whale, 9 note
Geo Bones, 10 note Padauk/Oak to a 12 note Padauk/Walnut to
ring out the Small Works Exhibit on a musical note.
Visit Carton Gallery and ring in the Holiday Spirit during the
Holiday Open House of the 26th Winter Exhibition, November 28th,
29th and 30th. Enjoy the Small Works of Art on exhibit while
sipping a cup of hot cider. The 26th Winter Exhibition continues
through March 15th. The gallery is located at 10360 Hwy 105
S 10 miles south of Boone, NC and 7 miles north of Linville,
NC with hours 10:00 to 5:00 Tuesday through Saturday and 11:00
