So as not to clash with Appalachian States next football
playoff game, the Boone Christmas Parade is calling a new play
for its annual trek down King Street.
The Downtown Boone Development Association announced Tuesday
the start time will change from 11 a.m. to 9.
This years grand marshal is the Hospitality House of Boone,
reflecting the emphasis on community needs in a season known
for generosity. The chairwoman of the Hospitality Houses
board of directors, Kay Borkowski, will ride in the grand marshals
car to lead the parade on behalf of the organization.
This years parade theme is Celebrating Your Home
in the High Country & A Season of Giving.
People are invited to bring a blanket or warm winter clothing
to Earth Fare Market to receive a gift of gratitude between
Friday, Dec. 5, and Sunday, Dec. 7.
Several other local events will take place on Parade Day.
The Friends of the Library will be hosting a Christmas party
with refreshments after the parade at the Watauga County Library
on Queen Street.
Green Mother Goods will be celebrating its one-year anniversary
with a day-long event to include live music.
The Watauga County Education Foundations Flapjack Flip
will be held on the morning of the 6th at Watauga High School
to help raise money for local schools and students.
Once again, the parade is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
Anyone wishing to participate in the parade can call the Downtown
Boone Development Association at (828) 262-4532.
