Collision Totals Two Vehicles Monday

Early afternoon traffic was held up for a while Monday afternoon due to a two vehicle accident which took

place in front of the State Employees Credit Union on Jefferson Avenue in West Jefferson.

The accident occurred when one of the drivers turned into oncoming traffic in an attempt to enter the bank's parking lot.

No serious injuries were reported following the accident, but both drivers experienced bumps, bruises and frazzled nerves. Both vehicles were totaled.

West Jefferson Police would like to remind drivers that during the holiday season increased traffic brings on the need to be extra vigilant.

The posted speed limit from the 221 intersection to Smokey Mountain Barbecue has been lowered to 35 mph.
