One of the High Countrys longest running metal bands
is back, only this time its going for a distinctly more
electronic sound. Another Victim on War (AVOW) has two new members
and will perform its first Hight Country show in more than a
year this weekend.
The revamped AVOW will perform on Friday, December 12 at Green
Eggs and Jam in downtown Boone. The show starts at 9 p.m. with
opening act Nightmare Sonata from Greensboro. Admission is $5
per person.
The new lineup for AVOW includes longtime members Chris Harris
on vocals and drum machine, and Kenneth Dancy on guitar plus
new members Chris Pope on bass and Jai Church on rhythm guitar
and electronics.
This is going to be our Farewell to W. show,
said Harris. Its going to be a multi-media show
with music, lights, fog machine and a video backdrop. Its
going to be a cool way to reintroduce ourselves to people.
Since last performing live in the High Country, AVOW has spent
time recording new songs and offering them to their fans free
of charge through the bands website at www.anothervictimofwar.com.
Weve gotten a lot more industrial sounding with
the drum machine, said Harris. Its a new BOSS
DR-880 that can do just about anything we want it to.
Although he is one of the newest members of the band, bassist
Chris Pope has been playing and writing music with guitarist
Dancy for the past decade. Some of the songs that are newest
in AVOWs repertoire were written by Pope and Dancy before
AVOW was formed in 2002.
Opening act Nightmare Sonata is post punk death rock performance
art band featuring Benjamin Samedi on guitars, keyboards and
vocals, Chris Spectre on bass and Undead Fred on drums.
