A
holiday concert performed by students in Appalachian State Universitys
Hayes School of Music that first aired on UNC TV last December
will be rebroadcast Dec. 24 at midnight and 10 p.m. and Dec.

Holiday Sounds from Appalachian features performances
by more than a dozen musical ensembles. It was coordinated by
Steve Hopkins, a member of the music faculty.
The show is a quality product that demonstrates the
diversity of our performance programs and the skills of the
UNC TV production team. We feel fortunate for the experience
and have received many favorable comments from viewers across
the state who watched the concert last year, said Bill
Harbinson, dean of the Hayes School of Music.
The program includes a medley by the Steely Pan Steel Band,
Dance of the Reed Pipes and Greensleeves
by the Flute Ensemble, selections by the Treble Choir, O,
Come all Ye Faithful and We Wish You a Merry Christmas
by the Brass Choir, Mary Sat a Rockin by the
Glee Club, Sleigh Ride by the Appalachian Symphony
Orchestra and The Christmas Song by the Chamber
Singers.
The orchestra and vocal groups combine for Hallelujah
from Handels Messiah.
The program was originally videotaped the week of Nov. 26,
2007, in Farthing Auditorium on campus.
The production of the 2007 concert was made possible by the
Hayes Endowment for Musical Excellence established by the late
Mariam Cannon Hayes.
