Submissions sought for quilt competition at Appalachian

Submissions are welcome for a traditional quilt competition that will be sponsored by Belk Library and Information Commons at Appalachian State University in 2009.

The juried competition will select and purchase traditionally patterned quilts to be displayed in the library’s Special Collections-Cratis Williams Reading Room on a rotating basis.

Jurors will include representatives of Special Collections and experts in quilting and Appalachian culture.

Quilters may enter any quilt using patterns, methods and cloth traditional to pre-1950 Appalachia.

All quilts and entry forms must be postmarked or dropped off at Belk Library and Information Commons by Feb. 15, 2009.

Winners will be announced on March 23, 2009.
