Elias Studios presents holiday glass
Handmade ornaments at ArtWalk in Boone

Unique pear-shaped Elias Glass ornaments are available now at ArtWalk in Boone.

The holidays bring a time of excitement and a time to break out the Christmas decorations. With bright colors, warm memories, and a special place for each handmade treasure, your holiday decorations are a significant part of the festivities of the season. At ArtWalk, our artists have several varieties of holiday handicrafts.

Elias Studios is just one of many options when finding the perfect new decoration for your home.

Elias Studios is a hot glass studio established in 1991 by John Elias and his wife, Jennie. They combined their talents to create a line of colorful ornaments that decorate windows, Christmas trees, or can be hung on stands. Their glass ornaments are made is a rainbow of colors from the traditional reds and greens, to ornaments of mixed colors. The pear shapes always tied with a satin ribbon show John and Jennie’s dedication to detail and the importance of high quality works for everyone’s homes.

John, a former potter and college professor, received a Master of Fine Arts degree in glass from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Southeastern Massachusetts University in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

Jennie, also a former art teacher, received a Masters degree from Rhode Island School of Design and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting from Southeastern Massachusetts University. John does all of the glass blowing and Jennie assists with creating new color combinations, product designs, and the many tasks needed to operate a busy studio.

John’s specialty is “frit” patterning using small chips of colored glass which are picked up by the molten glass during the blowing process. Each piece is then individually blown allowing the glass color combinations to flow across the three dimensional surface of the form.

There is a coexistence of control and chance in the creation of each piece which brings excitement to the process. The transitions, movement, and rhythms of the patterns allow each viewer to experience their own personal imagery within each piece. John and Jennie are inspired by people enjoying the efforts and excitement of hand blown glass.

Elias Studios’ work is located on ArtWalk’s main level and with three and a half floors and over 300 local, regional, and national artists, art lovers are sure to fall in love with ArtWalk. ArtWalk is located at 611 W. King Street (across from Mast General Store) Boone, N.C. 28607.
