Mother, daughter kick up their heels

The N.C. Folk Festival celebrated its 60th year of competition this past October at the Raleigh State Fair. Performers and competitors joined the special celebration. Musicians, singers and all kinds of dancers shared the stage seeking top honors and awards at the competition. A mother and daughter clogging duo shared their clogging magic to a memorable bluegrass tune called “Home to Carolina.” Cathy Walker created the special dance for herself and her mother, Theresa Lawrence. The high energy fancy footwork and couple precision won the mother and daughter a second place honor in the adult clogging competition. “This duo, along with their team members, Country Magic Cloggers, are proud of their heritage and love to call North Carolina home. It is an honor to be part of a treasured tradition, clogging,” a spokesperson for the cloggers said.
