The eight-hour session is being presented by Neighborhood Karma
Krew, a local chapter of the national nonprofit organization,
Karma Krew, which links community service with yoga.
Projects completed so far include teaching yoga to underserved
populations, creating a butterfly garden and cleaning animal
cages at a wildlife rescue center.
The Yogathon is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on National Yoga
Day, Jan. 25, and will help the local Karma Krew foster future
projects in Boone. The day promises eight hours of continuous
yoga, and an event spokesperson said participants can get involved
by gathering pledges from family and friends. Participants honor
the pledges by practicing yoga for two hours during the eight-hour
event.
Pledge forms are available at Neighborhood Yoga (on the back
porch in a labeled boix and at the sign-in desk inside the studio),
which is located at 215 Shanti Way in Boone.
