domestic violence on Monday, Jan.12.

The team tips off against UNC-Greensboro at 5 p.m.

During halftime, two speakers will speak about the movement to end violence against women.

Fans will hear from ASU defensive back Cortez Gilbert, a chemistry major who serves on the ASU Athletic Advisory Board and was a featured speaker at the 2008 Walk for Awareness.

Also speaking will be ASU alumnus David Naff, formerly active in leadership in Delta Tau Delta fraternity where David connected the group with OASIS Inc. (Opposing Abuse with Services, Information and Shelter) for service work.

In addition, a live auction will be held, with former ASU women’s basketball coach and current associate vice chancellor of the Equity Office Linda Robinson, as auctioneer.

Local businesses have donated gift certificates and gift items.

Auction packages will be on display at the front door.

Donations for OASIS will also be accepted at the door.

In addition, proceeds from the halftime auction go to OASIS to help support its work with families recovering from violence.

Last year’s “Shoot Out” was a success, raising more than $600 for victims of sexual violence and domestic abuse.

OASIS volunteers and staff will be available to answer questions and collect admission donations.

OASIS provides services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in the High Country.

The money raised will be used to help support the crisis intervention programs, including an emergency shelter for victims and their children, as well as educational materials.

“Please plan to attend the game to enjoy great basketball and help support families in our community. This game is a doubleheader, with the men’s team facing Davidson at 7:30 p.m.,” said a spokesperson for the women’s team.

OASIS is a nonprofit organization that provides a free confidential shelter, 24-hour crisis line, advocacy, referral, support groups, educational programs and volunteer training.
