Peewee Moore and the Awful Dreadful
Snakes come to Boone Saloon
By Jeff Eason

Peewee Moore and the Awful Dreadful
Snakes come to Boone from Chattanooga this weekend to
help spread the hillbilly honky-tonk gospel.

Nashville and Memphis might get the lions share of the
musical credit, but some of the smaller Tennessee cities are
doing their part to keep country and blues music alive.
Chattanooga, Knoxville and Johnson City are all cities with
considerable musical histories that are being kept alive by
the latest generation of guitar slingers.
One of Chattanoogas hottest new acts, Peewee Moore and
the Awful Dreadful Snakes will make its High Country debut this
weekend when the band performs at the Boone Saloon on Saturday,
January 10. The show starts at 10 p.m. and admission is $5 per
person.
The Awful Dreadful Snakes bills itself as hillbilly honky-tonkers
and the bands debut album, The Leavin Side of Gone,
is filled with great original songs that sound as if they couldve
been recorded by Hank Williams.
The band features Peewee Moore on guitar, vocals and harmonica,
Bryan Crunk Bones Jones on bass and vocals, and
Mad Dog Matt Calhoun on drums.
Moore was previously a member of the Tennessee Rounders, then
the backup singer and lead guitarist for songwriter Roger Alan
Wade before striking out on his own two years ago. In 2007 he
joined forces with Jones and Calhoun and formed the Awful Dreadful
Snakes in Chattanooga.
With songs like Running Moonshine and Nickajack
Dam the band weaves unforgettable stories with rockabilly
rhythms and strong, personable melodies. Fans of the Raleigh
band The Backsliders will find lots to love with Peewee Moore
and the Awful Dreadful Snakes.
