Red Cross hosts January workshops

The Watauga County chapter of the American Red Cross is offering numerous educational courses this

month, covering a range of first aid practices.
 
Jan. 16 (6 p.m. - 10 p.m.), 17 & 18 (8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.) 
CPR/First Aid Instructor’s Course
Location: Watauga Red Cross Office, 331 Queen St., Boone. 
Call (828) 264-8226 for fee information or to sign up. Pre-registration and prepayment are required. Class size minimum is four, and maximum is 12. Registration deadline is Jan. 9. 
Students will become certified to teach American Red Cross CPR/First Aid.  A local Red Cross spokesman hailed the course as “a great opportunity for anyone working in an environment that requires employees to be trained on an annual basis.”
 
Jan. 20 & 22 (6 - 10 p.m.) 
Community CPR/First Aid class 
Location: Watauga Red Cross Office, 331 Queen St., Boone 
Fees: $45 for all, $35 for CPR only, $25 for First Aid only. Pre-registration and prepayment is required.  Call (828)264-8226 to sign up. Class size minimum is four, and the maximum is 12. Registration deadline is Jan. 16. Students will learn Adult, Child and Infant CPR, Adult and Child AED and First Aid.
 
Jan. 22
CPR/First Aid Recertification
8:30 a.m. to 5 pm. 
Location: Watauga Red Cross Office, 331 Queen St., Boone
Fees: CPR only $20, First Aid only $15, both $35. Pre-registration and prepayment are required. Call (828) 264-8226 to sign up. Class minimum is four, and the maximum is 12. Registration deadline is Jan. 16. This class is designed for those whose CPR/First Aid certification is current but about to expire or has expired within the last 12 months.  Participants will receive a brief review, take the written test and demonstrate skills in order to become recertified. 
 
Jan. 24
Community CPR/First Aid
8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
