Karen Reynolds will be offering an acting workshop for
young adults/adults (college age and adult and possibly some high
school juniors and seniors), beginning on Feb. 22. The cost of
the class is $50.
This workshop will focus on learning to say it like you
mean it to provide believable performances to Wilkes Playmakers
audiences and beyond. STAR Power, an acronym for STudying
Acting Regularly, is designed to hone the actors skills,
whether they are currently in a production or in between shows.
It is also offered as an opportunity for anyone who has ever thought
about auditioning for a production and would like to test the
waters or for actors that havent been on stage in a long
time. Like any other skill, if you dont use it - you
lose it.
STAR Power gives actors the power for continued personal
growth in their performances, and the opportunity to work with
and learn from other actors, a Wilkes Playmakers spokesperson
said.
A night of scenes/monologues will be offered at the end of the
eight-week class in the Black Box at Benton Hall and will be open
to the public.
Classes will be offered on Sunday afternoons from 3 to 5 p.m.
at Benton Hall, located at 300 D Street, North Wilkesboro. Registration
will be handled from 2:30 to 3 p.m. at the first meeting on Sunday,
Feb. 22. The class will register in the North Wilkesboro Alumni
Room on the main floor of Benton Hall just off the Great Hall.
