Saxophonist Scott Kallestad will present a faculty recital
Feb. 9 at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Centers Rosen Concert
Hall at Appalachian State University. Admission is free.
Scott Kallestad
Kallestad is a member of the Hayes School of Music faculty. He
will be accompanied by pianist Christina Hayes, and percussionist
Rob Falvo, who will play the marimba.
Kallestad will perform Handels Air Varie arranged
by Sigurd Rascher, Music for Saxophone and Piano by
Leslie Bassett, Song for Davy The Old Year Is Past
by David Maslanka from Song Book for Alto Saxophone and
Marimba, Rumba by Maurice C. Whitney, Mai
by Ryo Noda and Partita by Erwin Dressel.
Kallestad is a native of North Dakota. He earned a bachelor of
science degree in music education from the University of North
Dakota. After directing junior and senior high school bands in
Minnesota for several years, Kallestad earned a master of music
degree and doctor of music arts degree from the University of
North Texas.
An accomplished performer and clinician, Kallestad teaches and
performs on all the saxophones. He has presented clinics on a
variety of saxophone topics. He has soloed with school concert
bands and jazz ensembles and has performed with bands, orchestras,
jazz bands, jazz combos, jazz/fusion groups, saxophone quartets
and new music ensembles.
