ASU JAZZfest starts Feb. 16

The Department of Student Programs in conjunction with the Hayes School of Music Jazz Studies Department and the Performing Arts Series is proud to announce JAZZfest 2009.

Highlights include the second annual JAZZfest scholarship dinner concert, featuring Jon Thornton with the Todd Wright Quartet. All proceeds support the Jazz Program Fund. The dinner is co-sponsored by Phi Mu Alpha Fraternity and will be held Monday, Feb. 16, at 6:30pm in the Blue Ridge Ballroom, Plemmons Student Union. Tickets are $8 and only available in advance.

The Blue Note Records 70th Anniversary Tour will be in Farthing Auditorium, Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 8 p.m. Tickets are available through the JAZZfest Web site, the Performing Arts Series website (link to www.pas.appstate.edu) and at the Farthing Auditorium Box Office.

Folks can also come hear the smooth Latin sounds of Con Clave on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 9 p.m. in Legends ($4/$6).

JAZZfest is also proud to present Audioform in concert. “If you enjoy jazz with a fusion or funk feel, you will love this group,” an event spokesperson said.

Audioform will perform Friday, Feb. 20, at 9 p.m. in Legends ($5/$7).
