Watauga library hosts winter reading program

The Watauga County Public Library, located at 140 Queen St. in downtown Boone, announces the upcoming Winter Reading Program.

Each winter season, the library invites all community members and visitors to battle the cold and snowy weather by curling up with a selection of good books and sharing their reviews, reflections and recommendations with other readers.

This year’s program will run from Jan. 26 to March 21 (inclusive).

Participants are asked to choose books and then offer ratings and recommendations, which will be shared with other readers in a special display area in the library’s entranceway. A selection of seasonally appropriate books and books-on-CD will also be available in the display for quick check-out.

Area merchants and other businesses and service providers are cordially asked and invited to participate by donating prizes to be awarded to winter reading participants.

Prizes, which have already been generously donated and will be awarded, include gift certificates from Marble Slab Creamery and Earth Fare, skiing and ice-skating passes from Appalachian Ski Mountain and more.

For more information, contact the reference desk of Watauga County Public Library at (828) 264-8784.
