An organizational meeting of musicians interested in
forming the High Country Chamber Orchestra will be held Feb.
24 at 5:30 p.m. at the Jones House Community Center in downtown
Boone.

Frank Borkowski, former chancellor at Appalachian State University
and a member of the Hayes School of Music, is organizing the
orchestra. The Watauga Arts Council is a sponsor.
“We have a number of really good musicians living in the
area who I think would like to opportunity to perform in a concert
setting,” Borkowski said. “It would be wonderful to
have a local chamber orchestra here in the High Country. It
would be good for the community and the region.”
Borkowski says about 35 musicians are needed to form the chamber
