Appalachian Ski Mountain
Looking to stock up on some winter gear? Appalachians
Alpine Ski Shop is having a winter sale on ski/ snowboard clothing
and equipment. Brad Moretz, general manager of Appalachian Ski
Mountain, is proud to offer the rest of the 2008-09 ski season,
adding up to six weeks, free with the purchase of 2009-10 season
membership.
This Friday, Appalachians terrain park will be hosting
its sixth Fresh Friday event Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. featuring a new
10 by 16 foot Red Bull wall-ride, which will be placed at the
bottom of the Appal Jam terrain park.
We look forward to giving riders in this area a new feature
of a quality that wont be found anywhere else in the region,
Drew Stanley, Appalachian Skis terrain park director,
said.
Boone Iron Works created the wall-ride, designed by Appalachian
Terrain Parks supervisor, Grayson Gordon. Graphics for
the feature were designed by Chris Reynolds. The feature will
be available for the rest of the season.
Ladies, take advantage of Ladies Park Night on Feb. 21. For
girls only, this park night is free with purchase of a lift
ticket. The session begins at 7 p.m. with a flexible format
for skiers and snowboarders of all ages.
As peak season conditions continue, Appalachian Ski currently
has all slopes open and lifts operational with an almost 100
inch base of groomed snow.

Ski Beech
Ski Beech will be honoring the life of the late Jon Jolly,
a former ski instructor, on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 11:30 a.m.
Ski Beech will be raising money to contribute to the Helena
Jolly educational fund. A cookout will begin at 11:30 a.m. at
the View Haus deck. Donations will be collected through out
the day.
Live music, face painting and lunch will be available. A raffle
for a season pass for the winter 2009-10 ski season will be
held during the event, and Dane will deejay the event. The ski
pass will be a $500 value.
As of Feb. 18, 11 out of 15 slopes are open, and six out of
10 lifts are operational. Beechs surface conditions are
30-60 inches of packed powder.

Hawksnest Resort
Currently, Hawksnest has 17 lanes open for tubing and will
have sessions available at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m.
and 6 p.m. Slopes are running fine with the cold weather coming

Sugar Mountain Resort
Spyder lines 2009-10 samples are available Feb. 26
only at Sugar Mountain Resort at 30 percent off. Sugar Mountain
Sports shop is located in the base lodge and features ski, snowboard
and leisure apparel.
Also, check out Boss Hawg on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Sugar
Mountain to jam to some North Carolina bluegrass.
As of Feb. 18, Sugar currently has 15 slopes open and six lifts
operational with a manmade powder and frozen granular surface
condition.
