Thursday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hayes Performing Arts
Center in Blowing Rock. Admission is $5.
This is the quintets first public concert since it was
formed in August 2008. The group also will perform at the Mid-Atlantic
Regional National Association of Teachers of Singing spring
conference in April.
The concert includes solos, duets, trios, quartets and a quintet.
Composers being performed include Haydn, Brahms, Schumann,
Mendelssohn, Strauss, Puccini and Mozart.
Members of the quintet are Lauren Hayworth and Tara Nixon,
both sopranos, Ashley Hollar, mezzo-soprano, Tyler Young, tenor,
and Harrison Bumgardner, baritone.
Pianists Aaron Ames and Susan Slingland will accompany the
singers.
Each of the quintet members has received a graduate assistantship
and the opportunity to perform extensively on and off campus,
both within the community and in the surrounding region. Weekly
vocal and dramatic coaching is included in their program of
study, as well as a concentration on languages and professional
career development.
