For those who love the songs of Elvis Presley and the action
revolving around 23 classic Presley hits sung by Watauga Countys
young talent, Watauga High School presents All Shook Up on April
2, 3 and 4.
Somewhere in the Midwest in the 1950s, Chad (Will Barbour)
a hip-swiveling, guitar-playing rebel is being
released from prison (Jailhouse Rock). With a sneer,
Chad rides off.
In a nearby, dreary little town, Natalie (Jessica Presnell),
a young mechanic, is dreaming of love and adventure. She yearns
for one true love to take her away, but she doesnt realize
that her best friend, Dennis (Cameron Haas), has a secret crush
on her.
Sitting in Sylvias, the local honky tonk, the whole town
sings the blues (Heartbreak Hotel). Natalies
widowed father, Jim (Murray Nickel), enters and joins in until
theyre interrupted by the roar of a motorcycle. It is
Chad, riding into town (Roustabout).
Chad is in need of a mechanic, and hes introduced to
Natalie, who is instantly smitten (One Night with You)
and promises to fix his bike. Chad asks about any excitement
in town, but hes told that excitement is outlawed under
the mayors strict rules: no loud noise, no indecent behavior.
Chad, incensed, promises to breathe some life into this sad
town, and as he touches a broken-down jukebox, it immediately
comes to life (Cmon Everybody).
This is just the beginning. More romance, heartache and Elvis
music aplenty will have audience members tapping those shoes.
Those who come early can enjoy a Coke or root-beer float, along
with some popcorn, to add to the mood.
Tickets cost $10 and are sold in advance or at the door. For
more information, call the Watauga High School Drama Department
at (828) 268-0760.
