The Deciders to perform at Gathering
of Nations

The Deciders featuring Melissa Reaves will perform at the 26th
Annual Gathering of Nations, the worlds largest gathering
of Native American and indigenous people, on April 24, as part
of its music series.
The Deciders is a funk and soul review based in Boone. Band
members include Andy Page, Doug James, Zack Page, Mike Runyon
and Ben Bjorlie. Reaves, vocalist and guitarist, has been performing
throughout the United States for more than a decade, performing
more than 200 shows a year and tours both as a solo artist and
with The Deciders.
The three-day Gathering of Nations features 36 Native American
and indigenous performers from a variety of musical genres,
and takes place in Albuquerque, N.M. at the University of New
Mexico University Arena between April 23 and 25.
The Gathering of Nations is proud to present a variety
of musicians that represent many genres of music including rock
n roll, hip-hop and reggae, said Derek Mathews,
organizer of the Gathering of Nations. Each performer
has a unique perspective on modern and traditional styles of
music and we are excited to have the privilege to share their
talents with the world.
Thirty-six bands performing 19 different genres of music will
play on Stage 49, an amphitheatre on the west side of the arena,
beginning Friday, April 24 through Saturday, April 25. Celebrating
Native American and indigenous cultures through music, the bands
herald from throughout the United States and Canada and will
perform rock n roll, rhythm and blues, reggae, funk,
hip-hop, country, traditional flute, electronic music, and even
entertain the audiences with comedy routines.
Other bands include Injunuity, a folk and rock n
roll band from Oklahoma; Leanne Goose, a singer and songwriter
from Northwest Territory, Canada, who performs heavy metal,
rock n roll and country music; Anthony Adams &
The Arctic Express Band, a country music band from Eagle River,
Alaska; Red Cloud, a Los Angeles-based hip-hop and rap music
group; Tracy Bone & J.C. Campbell, known as the Indian
Johnny Cash and June Carter, is a country and blues band
from Manitoba, Canada; and Native Roots, an Albuquerque-based
reggae band.
